Grant Fuhr was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1st round, 8th overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.

Fuhr made his NHL debut at the age of 19 on October 14th, 1981 for the Oilers in a 4-2 loss in Edmonton against the Jets.
His first NHL Win came seven days later in 5-2 victory in Edmonton on October 21st against the Whalers.

He played a crucial role in the Oilers' success during the 1980s, helping them win five Stanley Cups (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1990). 
His ability to perform in high-pressure situations was a key factor in their championship victories.
