On May 14th, 1996, Dwight "Doc" Gooden achieved one of the most improbable feats in baseball history: he threw a no-hitter for the New York Yankees against the Seattle Mariners, one of the most potent offenses ever assembled. It was a stunning comeback for a pitcher who had been suspended for drug abuse, written off as washed up, and signed as a low-risk gamble by George Steinbrenner.
